thank you for this video. Brought back so many memories! Used to drive up from LA occasionally just for the thrill of adventure. Went white water rafting on the Kern River and that was an experience of a lifetime! That was a long time ago. I miss my beautiful California so much.

I traveled on California state route 14 to June lake In the Sierra Nevada mountain range but I don’t like the cross traffic intersections between California city Blvd Athel Avenue. I don’t think California state route 14 will be changed to an interstate since there’s currently an interstate 14 in Texas.

California State Route 71 is an interesting freeway since a flyover ramp is gonna be built connecting the eastbound 91 to northbound 71 when the two freeways meet at an angle that looks illogical for a flyover ramp. The interchange would look better if the flyover ramp was built to connect the southbound 71 to westbound 91.

Hello, I am going for 12 days grand circle trip on Sept2024. On monument valley road did you drive from north to south? I am planning to go to four corners and than to bluff and to MV. Is north to south is better view or south to north? Please advice . Thanks

I lived on the south end of 241 for almost 10 years (right next to coto de caza) I haven't been on this road since 2011 and I still recognize every exit. I didn't even know it got an extension until a couple years ago, and its really weird seeing it current day XD

If the 14 freeway were extended south past the 5 freeway a lot of people would lose houses since the 14 would cut through Granada hills, north ridge lake Balboa and it would also cost money to build an interchange where the 14 would connect with the 101 in encino

I saw on google maps that there is a landfill near the 5 and 14 freeway interchange. Since there is a landfill near by I doubt the 14 freeway will ever be extended further south through Granada hills eventually connecting with the 101 in Encino

Technically, the title of you video is slightly wrong. The driver is descending TO Zion Canyon. The Zion Mt Carmel road follows Pine Creek into Zion Canyon (confluence with the N Virgin River). I believe this “side canyon” is called Pine Creek Canyon.

Zion Canyon is one of those places that makes you feel things you can't express with words. And no video can do it justice.

Rafted that stretch of the Colorado a few times from Fisher Towers back toward Moab. I love that road because it was built following the land. They didn't grade everything and flatten it, the road rises and falls with the land and it just feels so much more alive and organic. It's so much fun to drive and stunningly beautiful. That initial part of the canyon, on the right at the top of the cliffs overhead is the world famous Slick Rock Bike trail. Has a number of overlooks from the top. There's also a VERY difficult and high classed trail DOWN the cliffs to the canyon road. Ran into a video of it once and it's pretty crazy. Have been a few deaths.

Virgin River Gorge and Glenwood Canyon are my top two favorite canyons to drive through. Absolutely stunning the both of them. Virgin river in all of it's barren rocky glory. It's so big and you feel so small down in the bottom. A very difficult stretch of freeway to build. That corner of UT has had an extremely colorful past. From being buried by a massive inland salt sea, to volcanoes (still some cinder cones around you can go to), to massive floods, earthquakes, etc. You see so many different kinds and colors of rock and soil as you drive between St George and Cedar City.

I got gas and cleaned my windshield at that Shell station in Mexican Hat barely a month and a half ago.

went on a tour of the south west parks when amtrak did such things. loved arches and monument valley . this is a iconic view.

We just visited the park earlier this month. Your video is a good review for us. Thanks. By looking at Moab, it has developed much more in recent years: central city street now filled with hotels, restaurants, and shops, more convenient for tourists.

In 2014 my buddy and i did a roadtrip from the east coast to the west coast (over 6 weeks and 8000 miles!). And we drove that exact same route as in this video too. Monument Valley is amazing! Thanks for the video.
